Raffle for $250 RMO gift card to benefit North Shore Nordic

Holiday 2020 Update: Gear Availability, Shop Hours, and Recycled Rolls On.

Well, can we even call that a fall? Leaves are still frozen on the trees here in town, but we’ve been busy in the ski department and out in the snow since mid-October. Covid-19 continues to make this year unique; we find ourselves uniquely grateful for the continued support of our community in these challenging times. Being outside has always been at the heart of our fun and our business. It’s a joy to see that when many things are a little sideways, that direction out the door is still as steadfast as ever.

Demand for things like ski boots, skins, and nordic poles continues to build as the winter rolls on. Our selection is still strong, but our availability to get more inventory may run into the same supply issues seen by the bike and kayak worlds this past summer.  We’d love to make sure you get what you need for a happy and healthy winter outside. If there’s something you’re thinking about, either for you or as a gift, get in touch soon for the best chance that we’ll still have your size.

To accommodate holiday demand, we’re adding Sundays 11am-4pm back into the mix through the new year. Our other hours remain 10am-6pm Monday through Saturday, with the following exceptions:

12/24, Christmas Eve: 10am-3pm
12/25, Christmas: Closed
12/31, New Year’s Eve: 10am-3pm
1/1, New Year’s Day: Closed

On the RMO Recycled front, we’d like to thank everyone who brought gear in or managed to score a deal on our changed program for this season. Finding space for our rentals means we’re reducing the size and scope of the sale. However, nordic (classic and skate) and alpine touring hardgoods remain open for sale. We also welcome the same if you’ve still got something in that category you’d like to sell!

RMO RECYCLED is here!

Gear is already starting to arrive, and we’re so excited to share it with you. Comb your closet, or thin out the garage to find that gear that you don’t need, but will net you credit towards what you’d like. Better still, it goes out to become part of someone else’s adventure!

Closed for Fall Sundays and Labor Day

Just a heads up: this Labor Day weekend, we’ll be out playing with our families on Sunday and Monday, so the shop will be closed. Also, we’ll be closed on Sundays until December. Our normal hours of 10-6, Monday to Saturday remain.

Also, since you’re here, here’s the details on RMO RECYCLED.

Summer Sundays, Masks, and canister fuel in stock

A few shop updates:

This summer, we’re running Sunday hours from noon to 4pm, alongside Monday to Saturday hours of 10am-6pm. If you need something and it’s outside those hours, please call us–we have some options that might work.

As part of the governor’s order, masks are required in RMO as we are a public, indoor space where social distancing is not always possible. Thank you for doing your part to keep our customers and employees safe. If you’d like a curbside contactless pickup, we can certainly arrange that by phone.

We have canister fuel! The threading of our canisters works for small backpacking stoves (MSR, Optimus, etc) and also Jetboils.  There seems to be a shortage, but we’ve got a small mountain of it.

A huge thank you to our customers and our community–we couldn’t do this without you, and we appreciate your support.

Expanded hours at RMO starting on Memorial Day

Starting Memorial Day, we’ll be expanding our hours to be open 10am-6pm, Monday through Saturday. We continue to limit the number of folks in the store and practice social distancing, and are happy to arrange curbside pickup. If you’ve got questions, feel free to reach out to us via phone 406-752-2446.

Thanks,

Jandy and the crew at RMO

Ever wanted a more permanent solution than tape for tears in your shell? Here, Matt demonstrates a few tricks for a simple Seamgrip repair on his windshell. This would be applicable on any kind of shell jacket or pant, and only requires packing tape, a toothpick, Seamgrip, and some time.

RMO is re-opening!

Once again, we want to say a huge thanks to everyone who has stuck with us through these unprecedented times: everyone who called, made appointments, or kept patience as we chewed through shop work slowly. Your care has been felt, and we appreciate it.

On a bright note, per the governor’s orders, we are reopening starting  Monday, April 27th! We’ll be open 11am-5pm Mon-Sat to start; our plan is to limit the number of customers in the store to 5 at a time. We’ll be cleaning and sanitizing as we go, and doing a deep clean each morning before we open the doors.

We’ll also continue to do appointments for folks who want to meet outside our normal hours, and if you’d prefer delivery or curbside pickup, we’re happy to oblige—just let us know by calling the shop at 406-752-2446.

Come say hi!

RMO COVID-19 Update #2–by appointment only

Dear RMO Faithful,

Per the Governor’s orders, we’ve ceased our normal operations, and the front door is locked. We have been able to help folks on an appointment-only basis, so if you need something, don’t hesitate to call Jandy on his cell at 406-314-3604 and he’ll get in touch.

Once again, we want to reiterate our supreme thanks to this community for all the business (especially the gift cards!0, friendship, and support you’ve thrown our way through these strange times. It makes us happy to help people find some normalcy in responsibly getting outside.

Please: take care of yourselves and one another, be well, and let us know if we can help.

Thanks,

Jandy and the RMO Crew

A mud season COVID-19 update from RMO

Dear RMO faithful,

RMO exists because of our community, and we truly appreciate all the support we’ve received, the words shared, and the folks who have stopped by. We’re feeling the love, and we appreciate you and yours. We’ve been here in Kalispell a long time, and if all the wandering around outside has left us with a nugget of wisdom, it’s that care and our gathered strength can get us through pretty much anything. Thanks for being a big part of that.

Serving our customers and our community is our role. COVID-19 represents a challenge, but we’ve got options to continue that role and keep you going in your outdoor pursuits:

-We’re still here at the (sanitized and cleaned) store at 135 Main Street if face to face is your preferred method. Starting on March 24th, we’re moving to reduced hours of 10am-5pm, Monday-Saturday.

-If you’d like to schedule some before or after hours shopping, please contact Jandy directly at 406-314-3602

-We’ve got two separate phone lines; don’t hesitate to call the shop with questions or if you’re looking for advice. 406-752-2446

-We’re happy to arrange curbside pickup or shipping via post if you’d like to avoid stepping into the shop. Please call us at 406-752-2446 to arrange these and pay via card over the phone.

-We’re offering free delivery service in the Flathead Valley; we request a $50 sale minimum for deliveries in the Kalispell area, and $100 minimum for the Whitefish and Columbia Falls areas. If you need something smaller that doesn’t hit those minimums but you’d like it delivered, please call us at 406-752-2446 and we may be able to work it out.

Contacting us online or via social media works, but it will be much slower and less efficient  than a phone call.

As for us, all our employees have been given the option to work as they feel comfortable. We’re still getting out responsibly to enjoy the trails, snow, and those beautiful shades of alpenglow at sunset. Hope to see you out there, and if we don’t shake your hand now, know that we look forward to doing so in the not too distant future.

Cheers,

Jandy and the RMO Crew
